Gardens by Design's Full-Sevice Landscape Services Team
Donna Rudek started her design practice as the owner of Gardens by Design in 1996. She trained at the Landscape Institute at Harvard’s Arnold Arboretum, formerly the Radcliffe Design Seminar. She participates in numerous ongoing professional education activities, including workshops in Historic Landscape Preservation, Landscape Lighting, Surveying, Irrigation, and Water Feature Construction. She has a Master of Education degree and has taught Landscape Design and Maintenance courses in the Adult Education Program in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, and as a lecturer to local garden clubs. She also teaches elementary and middle school students about gardening and the environment as a guest speaker and event organizer. She is a member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers and the Ecological Landscape Association. Her garden was featured in the Worcester County Horticultural Society (Tower Hill Botanical Gardens) tour in 2005. In 2006, her design for an entry garden at the Worcester Center for Crafts won the $5,000 grant awarded by the Wheeler Trust to beautify a public property in the city of Worcester.
In full design and build projects, Donna prefers to work with Christopher King of Ideal Maintenance Landscape & Construction. The team has over five years of experience working together, resulting in a seamless implementation of Donna's designs. Chris has owned Ideal Landscape & Construction since 1996 and has over 20 years of experience in the landscaping field. He has been Certified as a Paver Installer by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute, is a Certified Belgard Wall and Paver Installer, and has been Certified in Segmented Retaining Wall Installation by the National Concrete Masonry Association. He is a Licensed Pesticide Applicator by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Agriculture. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
